  1. To enable the students to read the Synoptic gospels by using the various critical methods.
  2. To retrace the context, origin, and development of the Jesus Movement in the light of the synoptic gospels.
  3. To explain the unique theological and communitarian perspective and specificity of each Evangelist with reference to his context.
  4. To explain the person, teachings, and practices/work of Jesus.
  5. To interpret the Gospels contextually and preach relevantly.
  6. To discern the relevance of the Jesus Movement for contemporary emancipatory witness and praxes.
